Alot of skin care products offer alternative products depending on your skin type, however, very often there exists little difference between the formulas for combination or oily skin and their dry skin alterntives.

Because of hormonal changes that occur during puberty, it is very common to have an oily skin type as a teenager, but it can also be quite common in our 30?s and 40?s as well. The skin generally tends to dry out as we get older, since the production of sebum reaches its peak during adolescence and then slowly starts to decrease with age. This latter point means that for people who suffer oily skin, your skin may start to improve as you get older because of the reduction in oil production. During pregnancy and the menopause, hormonal imbalances also usually trigger activity in the skin’s sebaceous glands, which can in some women result in an increase in the level of sebum oil produced.

Many people have skin that is oily in certain regions of the face, generally the facial area we refer to as the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin), and dry or normal in others. This skin type is generally referred to as combination skin.

The main factors influencing oily and combination skin types are: Heredity skin type factors Levels of hormones that influence the skin Cosmetics and skin care lotions Pregnancy Birth control Weather and Humidity

Cleansing your Oily Skin Try and avoid cleansing creams since they are often too harsh and dry out the skin. Choose pure soaps that have few or no artificial additives, or try a lightly medicated lotion. Oil-based products, although seemingly a bit ironic to use on oily skin, do actually prove to be quite effective in reducing and removing excess sebum from the skin.

As part of your oily skin care routine, wash oily skin gently in warm water and avoid products that leave the skin feeling overly dry since this can result in a reaction known as reactive seborrhoea, where the sebaceous glands increase oil production in response to the reduction in the level of oil. Alcohol-based products since be avoided since they can take away too much oil and you should reduce the number of times you wash daily since this can cause reactive seborrhoea. Products that dry the skin out too much sometimes cause the upper layers of the skin to shrink, restricting oil flow through the pores which can exacerbate pore blockage.

Oily skin treatment When cleansing, massage your face with your fingertips, using an outward and upward motion, and take care not to rub soap into the skin since this can increase the risk of clogging. If your skin is also scaly as well as oily, then you might want to try a deep-cleaning exfolient a couple of times a week. Choose an oil-free moisturizer for a shine-free complexion.

Use an antiseptic day cream before applying makeup and use a foundation for oily skin. Look for those oily skin care products that have active ingredients such as benzyl peroxide that help reduce sebaceous secretions.

Not only is acne rampant and has devastating effects in adolescents but women also has acne during pregnancy and affected equally. According to research 85% of adolescents and pregnant women develop acne at some stage. Acne which is also known as acne valgaris develops as a lesion of pimples across the face mostly but in other cases can affect the chest, shoulder, back and or upper neck. Research showed that many sufferers develop acne at the beginning of their adolescence-teenage and some into the adulthood. Acne is also known by various names. Common ones being zist, blackheads, blemishes, pimples, spots and of cause the widely used acne.

What causes acne during pregnancy and adolescence? In short Acne is caused by the blockage of follicles. The number one theory behind what causes acne is increased hormonal activities such as menstrual cycle and puberty.

Does acne during pregnancy and in adolescence have any effect to sufferers? Studies conducted show that most people have an increased production of male sex hormons at puberty. Beacuse of the increased hormonal production the follicle glands tend to enlarge resulting in more sebum being produced which in turn clogs the follicles. Pregnancy is also a time when an increased hormonal changes occur which in turn will cause acne in the same manner as mentioned. In some people acne first develops during teenage years but many women have acne during pregnancy?

Acne affects people physically by scarring or disfiguring their skin. Apart from scarring, acne can have negative psychological effects such as low self-esteem in some individuals due to body image disturbance. As has been discussed acne during pregnancy and puberty comes at a time when sufferers tend to be already socially insecure. Aside the psychological effects of low self-esteem, as has been reported (according to one study), social exclusion, bullying by peer, depression, and suicide have been noted as secondary to the low esteem.

In a study conducted some people reported experiencing low self-esteem and lack of confidence in social setting due to the body image disturbance caused by acne. More so acne during pregnancy and in adolescence comes at a time when there is great desired to fit in or to feel good and acceptable. A time when sufferers tend to be already socially precarious. there have been reported other secondary effects self-esteem reported in the study included, social exclusion, peer bullying, depression, and even suicide.

There are several products on the market for treating acne. Not all are safe to treat acne during pregnancy. So you may be wandering whats safe and whats not.

As has been reported by a study by revitol, very little improvements were seen in a trial carried out using some of the widely acclaimed successful acne during pregnancy treatments. The little improvement that was seen it was over a well longer time frame than the one most acne products promise.

So the big question might be which product then? At revitol, they have top of the range product information to help you make informed decisionacne during pregnancys.

If you have stretch marks, there is no question as to why you would seek a stretch mark remedy. Seeing stretch marks on your body can affects your self esteem, which is why most people seek the best stretch mark cream or stretch mark treatments available.

What Causes Stretch Marks?

Stretch marks occur when connective tissue in the skin breaks down in the dermis. At the beginning it looks a bit like purplish riverbeds. Over time that coloration disappears and what’s left is silver lines that can grow wider and longer. Worse, make up doesn’t seem to help much. Stretch marks are one of the most common skin changes during pregnancy and excess weight gain.

The cause of stretch marks can vary. Some people may get them due to hormonal changes (like pregnancy and growth spurs). Some may experience them when they loose or gain weight. Others still may find that gaining or loosing muscle causes stretch marks. Other potential contributing factors include poor diet, dramatic environmental changes, and prescription medications.

Effects?

Stretch marks are harmless except when it comes to self-esteem. This is especially true for someone who has worked hard to lose weight and get in shape only to discover a visual reminder left behind – stretch marks, and no stretch mark remedy in sight. How discouraging!

Is There an Effective Stretch Mark Remover Remedy?

Most people are overwhelmed by the number of stretch mark creams and other treatments on the market today. Some old fashion treatments include cocoa butter, vitamin E, or lemon juice. While these may not work too well for many people, they do look appealing when compared to the cost (over $1,000 for one session!) laser surgery stretch mark removal treatments.

Natural Stretch Mark Treatment Options:

The editors of this site have found a product that they can really get behind to help people with stretch marks. It’s called a Skin Roller. The beauty of this hand held device is that anyone can use it (even if you’re pregnant) and it’s more cost effective than either commercial creams or laser surgery. The Derma Roller is excellent for wrinkles, scar removal, cellulite treatment, and as a remedy for stretch marks. The Derma roller helps all these things by encouraging collagen production in the skin. The tool is FDA approved, and bears a 100% money back guarantee. Better still it can even be used to remove wrinkles and fine lines in sensitive areas like near the eyes.

Acne scars are a sad memento of the having suffered pimples or even acne. They are intolerable because of their apparent permanence and their non-complimentary look. Normally speaking, acne scars are rather difficult to treat, but tissue regeneration is not impossible these days with all the fantastic technological developments.

Generally speaking, by acne scarring, we mean the healed lesions caused by an acne breakout. While most scarring is temporary and will probably disappear naturally over time, scars from the more severe forms of acne can become permanent.

Acne scarring may be prevented if the sufferer visits doctor when the acne scarring is in an early stage, especially if nodules or cysts accompany the red pustules on the skin’s surface. If the breakouts of acne have scarred your skin, you will have to approach the issue from a different perspective, which most of the time involves surgery.

Laser resurfacing is one possibility of removing the damaged skin areas and stimulating the organic regeneration of the tissue underneath. This procedure only requires local anaesthesia and can take between a few minutes and an hour depending on the extent of the damage.

Fractional laser therapy is one of the most recent methods of removing acne scarring. It involves surgical intervention at deep skin layers. The therapy is better than both dermabrasion and laser resurfacing in terms of quality and involves a very reduced healing period. Nevertheless, fractional laser therapy is within the reach of only those few fortunate people, who can afford it, since it is the most expensive acne treatment available so far.

It can happen that further sessions are required to improve the condition of the superficial layers of skin, before they can start the deep level treatment of the acne scarring. The doctor may inject collagen into the scarring in order to elevate the normal skin level or she/he may suggest micro-dermabrasion for the same purpose. Trying to carry out chemical peels at home is a bad policy because of the risk of aggravating the condition by irritating the scars even further.

As for the forms of acne scars, they can be classified by the way they look. Scarring can result because of an increase of tissue or due to a loss of tissue They both have an adverse impact on the way the face looks. Specialists’ evaluation of the nature of the scars is a very important factor for the decision of adopting one kind of treatment or another.
