Chronic low back pain has plagued thousands of individuals for many years causing much pain and discomfort as well as time off from work or their daily routines. There has usually been the same traditional type of treatment methods and strategies to cure this painful problem. Recently, doctors have been notified of chronic low back pain treatment guidelines regarding the methods of low pain treatment.

The reasons for the chronic low back pain treatment guidelines is that there is a variety of different treatment methods and different costs, yet most of the results are the same. The American College of Physicians and the American Pain Society have made and entire group of chronic low back pain treatment guidelines for doctors to use with each patient. They want each patient to be treated differently based on certain factors.

Grab your FREE copy of the 7 Day Back Pain Cure – Click Here

One of the factors in the chronic low back pain treatment guidelines states that the causes of the back pain should be put in specific categories such as mechanical back pain like vertebra, disc, facet joints, nerve root, spinous process and traverse process; congenital conditions like scoliosis; infections, tumors and diseases; and injuries like sports injuries or whiplash.
Prior to the setting of chronic low back pain treatment guidelines, almost all of these back problems were treated in the same variety of ways with usually the same results.

Another factor in the chronic low back pain treatment guidelines is that there should be certain criteria on if X-rays and other imaging tests will be taken on the patient. This criteria will depend on what kind of back pain the patient is suffering and why. Yet another factor is what type of back pain the patient should get certain medications prescribed and what kind they should be. Whether they are prescription, alternative, holistic, physical therapy or massage will be determined by what type works best for a specific back pain.

By using the chronic low back pain treatment guidelines, it is the hope that patients will be successfully treated for their back pain much sooner without having to go through so many different treatments. This will also save on medical bills and help keep health costs down. The rising cost of health care has been a problem steadily the past few years and hopefully these new guidelines will help the situation.

When these chronic low back pain treatment guidelines are used all the time, the patients will know what treatment they are getting and why they are getting it as well as understanding their case better.

Chronic back pain may mean a lot of different things to most people. This is because chornic back pain may have different causes too for various people. It is important to know the factors that causes chronic back pain and the reasons why you are going through that ordeal.

The basic description of this type of chronic back pain is pain that is unbearable and beyond the point of the tissue being able to heal. Chronic back pain is usually characterized as pain that is rather continuous and lasts for longer than 3 to 6 months. However the problem with this description is many people think that they are suffering from chronic back pain when in fact they are just experiencing symptoms of a reoccurring problem. This is why it is important to make sure that you clearly define what chronic back pain is before you start you find out if you are suffering from it or not.

Chronic back pain have a lot of causes. The most common cause of chronic back pain is herniated disc or degenerative disc problems. These problems can be caused by aging, sports and spinal injuries. It is important for a patient whose suffering from chronic back pain to be diagnosed with their condition to be able to receive proper treatment.

One important way to help your with your condition is consultation with a medical professional. It is important that you openly discuss the pain with your doctor so he/she can properly diagnose your condition. Once you have gone through all the examination, and once you are properly diagnosed, your doctor can advise the best medical treatment that will help you eliminate the pain and heal your ailment.

Another great option that is available for diagnosing chronic back pain is to talk with a specialist. They will have a better understanding of to what degree of back pain you are suffering from. This is the best way to make sure that you are receiving the proper treatment and not just general treatment for those types of problems. One of the most important things that you can do is make sure that you have a personalized treatment plan specifically designed for your current condition. Once you have done this you will be doing everything that is possible in order to try and effectively treat the symptoms that are commonly associated with chronic back pain.

When you suffer from back pain, each moment can feel like an eternity. Finding a back pain relief remedy is probably important to you and whilst there isn’t a cure as yet, some treatments can help sufferers. Pain relief is possible with the medications available but that is all they do and the reason for the pain continues. While there are a host of prescription medications that help with pain relief, many are doing nothing more than masking the symptoms instead of tackling the underlying cause of the pain.

As far as the sufferer is concerned, this medication should only be taken whilst under supervision by a medical expert.

The reason back problems are so common is because it is so easy to injure the spine. Large numbers of people have caused permanent damage to their backs just by sitting poorly for long periods.

Of course the most common way to injure your spine is by lifting heavy weights or lifting them incorrectly. There are a number of natural back pain relief methods that mean you will not have to rely on drugs. Stretching can be effective at reducing back pain as it relaxes the muscles which are often tense.

Success at reducing pain and providing relief has also been found by people using reflexology to the feet. It is often successful at treating people with long term conditions. In addition to this, reflexology can also help to improve the blood circulation which in turn provides relief to aching and tired muscles.

Acupuncture is used frequently by people suffering spinal agony by giving them back pain relief just as it has for thousands of years, although, only recently in the West. Acupuncture works by releasing the ‘chi’ or energy flow that every living thing has. It can become clogged up when sickness is present. Using thin needles placed into the body at specific points can free this energy. There are large numbers of people that use acupuncture on a regular basis and claim it works well for them providing pain relief. This is especially true for those who have what is termed a chronic condition.

Another ancient oriental discipline, Tai Chi, is similar to many types of Yoga but the movements are much slower and deliberate. Tai Chi is however, very gentle and easily performed by young and older people. It focuses on breathing exercises with additional stretching movements.

In addition to these methods of natural back pain relief, exercise can also help to relieve back pain. By exercising regularly there is less chance of a back pain attack.

We all get some back pain now and again. Perhaps you overdid it a little playing tennis, or lifted a few too many heavy things. Your back will probably hurt a little bit for a day or two.

There are plenty of remedies for occasional back pain: ointments, pills and so on which can banish the back pain, at least for a time. A heating pad may even get rid of your back pain if it is a minor case. However, if you are one of the many who suffer from chronic back pain, than it will take more than that – the lack of an effective chronic back pain treatment is something of which you are already all too aware.

Chronic back pain is often a lifelong problem. You can do exercises to strengthen your back and reduce the effects of chronic back pain somewhat, but when the weather changes or the barometer drops, there will be a flare up. It’s as if your back is reminding you of your injury and that there is nothing you can do to eliminate the pain entirely.

If chronic back pain was entirely limited to your back, it would be a lot easier to live with. Usually though, muscle spasms, damaged discs and the like affect you far beyond just the immediate area.

A damaged disc or discs will usually cause leg and ankle pain during a flare up along with the back pain. Which leg and ankle experience this pain depends which side your damaged disc is bulging out on. A bulge on the left equals pain in the left leg and ankle and vice versa.

The leg pain can be harder to bear than the chronic back pain itself! Sometimes the leg pain can be more intense. Chronic back pain is no picnic, no matter how you slice it.

It’s certain that you have seen people, whether on TV or in real life complaining of stiffness due to chronic back pain. These people aren’t faking it; something you yourself know if you suffer from chronic back pain. This is not only real, but very painful!

Living with chronic back pain is an unpleasant experience; though the pain can be managed by various treatments. You should take care of your back, however, to ensure that the odds of your having to live with chronic back pain are low.

When it comes to your health, there isn’t a single part of your body that doesn’t make a difference. If your muscles, tendons or bones suffer some damage, you could be looking at some serious back troubles. This might include a fracture, slipped herniated disk, or even a broken back. Lower back pain can be triggered by a number of situations such as overexertion and poor alignment when performing day to day activities.

Determining the cause of lower back pain can be complicated since there are a number of different factors involved. For instance, your central nervous system adjacent to your spine has a big part to play in the formation of back pain.

Well over a million people suffer both minor and severe back pain at one time or another. Half of these cases could have been prevented in the first place, without the need for medical intervention. The rest might have to suffer the pain for years to come unless they take a more proactive approach to back pain management.

In some instances, the problem is addressed through the use of surgery. Undergoing surgery can lead to serious complications including, ironically, back pain that’s worse than before. Even the pain of a damaged tendon or shoulder ligament can be eased without the necessity of surgery.

Are you aware that simply by losing some weight you can ease your lower back pain? All over the world, obesity is becoming a serious problem. This extra weight increases pressure on the muscles and usually results in back pain. “Oh, my aching feet”, you might moan. You might not stop to think that the problem lies in poorly fitting shoes, excessive body weight and too much pressure on the joints and muscles that support you.

If you have a slipped herniated disk, how do you get pain relief? Make sure you bend and lean safely, drop a few pounds if you’re overweight, get some shoes that fit properly, and use a curling technique to treat your pain.

Are you aware that by curling up in a fetal position you can reduce the pain caused by a herniated slipped disk? Just lay down on your side and curl up your knees to your chest, and you’ll feel the effect. Once you’re in the fetal position, put a small pillow or cushion between your knees; make sure that you’re not curled up too tightly. Keep your hips lowered.

Once you’re aware of the causes of back pain, you can start to take action and relieve your symptoms.

In some cases, surgery is performed to correct the problem. Surgery often leads to major complications, including even more severe back pain. Even if you damage a shoulder ligament or tendon, you can take measures to relieve your pain without resorting to surgery.

Did you know that losing weight can reduce lower back pain? Obesity is spreading throughout the world. Excess weight adds pressure to the muscles, ultimately causing back pain. “My feet are killing me,” is a common complaint. What you probably fail to realize is that you may be overweight, wearing the wrong shoes, and overexerting the weight bearing joints and muscles.

So, lie down on your side, curl your knees up towards your chest, and find out for yourself. While you’re curled, don’t fold up too tightly, and tuck a pillow or cushion between your knees. Don’t raise your hips.

Once you’re aware of the causes of back pain, you can start to take action and relieve your symptoms.

After much research, doctors have now determined that the brain of a patient with chronic back pain may age as much as 20 times faster than normal. The reason is because chronic back pain is said to shrink the brain, sometimes as much as 11%. The part of the brain that it affects is the part that helps us with memory and processing information also referred to as the gray matter of the brain. Research also believes that the brain goes back to its normal size when the back pain goes away.
